SNCF train cancellation reimbursement

Hello, Hope your day is going well.

I am an EUrail pass holder and I have a question about compensation/refund for 1 reservation that was placed. On December 4th my group and I were traveling from Rome Termini to Lisbon Santa-Apolonia. Our train from Chambery to Valence-TGV (TER17524) at 13:40, was cancelled causing us to miss all of our subsequent trains and reservations. We were given no prior warning that this train was cancelled, and the train staff were unable to provide an explanation.

We had to take the next train, and I had to purchase new reservations to get to Lisbon. The train I am seeking compensation was from Barcelona to Madrid on December 5th at 8 am.

I have contacted EUrail about this issue and they told me to contact Renfe, the company associated with Spanish trains, however they proceeded to tell me to contact SNCF as your company was responsible for the delay.

I have the electronic ticket and can provide it if requested. I would like compensation if possible.
