How can I get refund for ticket I paid but never received?

I paid for a ticket for my wife for train from Geneve to Grenoble at 26th February. It should be delivered via post but it never was. At the railway station they promised the ticket will be refunded and she had to buy another. When we asked for refund the frist one we were told to send the second ticket via mail to Spain. I don't know why you need the other ticket but we sent it anyway about month ago. They claim it hasn't arrive yet. So now we have no ticket and no refund now. Is it possible to do anything about it?

We bough the ticket online. I don't know how to forward you the confirmation mail we got from noreply@voyages-sncf.com . At the end of the mail is Transaction n° 796767 (SNCF) € 41.80

I guess it would help to identify it. The refernce number of communication my wife had with SNCF is Ref19909 but I don't understand it much because it's in French. But it is more than month ago when I paid for the ticket that never arrived. I would expect refund much sooner regardless if we bought another ticket or not - what would happen if she were short of cash and couldn't afford to make another payment? She would stay in Geneve and the money paid for first ticket would be lost?
